Over 60's match 26th September 2012

The Over 60's travelled to Avington E for the first of a series of canal matches to form the home run of the series. A decent sized field all caught something, meaning that the last three got no points for their efforts. The all too familiar name of Dave Smith won by a good margin, the runners up being closely grouped. Some of the minor placings were decided by half an ounce. The full list of 13 weights is:

Dave Smith  4-8-0

Brian Cripps  2-8-8

Richard Wiggins 2-7-0

Over 60's match 12th September 2012

The Over 60's went to Alders for one of the first matches since the weed cutting took place, hoping that the fishery would be easier than last time. The good news is that the fish were coming out and the weights are much improved. This lake is worth a go for a pleasure session too. With 3 matches to go the top 5 are separated by just 10 points, so all to play for. The result was:

Colin Gore 7-1-0 peg1

Billy Lowe 6-15-8 peg 8

Ray Jones 4-4-8 peg 3

Memorial match 2nd September 2012

The Keith Scrivener/Norman Unwin memorial match took place as a pairs event on Willows and Alders. A total of ten pairs fished the match. A lovely day was had by all, and the prizegiving was held around Keith's memorial bench with a few words in memory of both gentlemen.

The winners were Karen and Paul Smythe with 4 points, which apparently surprised Karen as she believed Paul wasn't pulling his weight on Willows. Matrimonial bliss was soon restored at the weigh-in however. Second place went to Billy Lowe and Steve Myers with 7 points, and third was Vince Bonnick and John Cox with 9 points.

Individually Karen won Alders with 4lb from peg 23, and Billy Lowe won Willows with 76lb 2oz from peg 42.
