Club Championship 21st October 2012

The second of two October matches took the Club Championship to Speen Moors which was fishing well and some good weights were had. It went very much to form with most of the series leaders scoring well, and Dave Smith and Vince Bonnick stretching their lead at the top. In third place Les Durnford had a 2lb 11oz perch in his bag. With three matches to go there there are still 10 possible winners of the top prize. Dave Smith is the man to beat, and having already claimed two series trophies this season he could be on for a hat trick. The result:

Dave Smith 16lb 5oz

Vince Bonnick 8lb 8oz

Les Durnford 6lb 11oz including a 2lb 11oz perch

Over 70's rover 17th October 2012

This event was held on Warwicks on a day when the fish were hard to come by. Eric Goswell ran away with the win with both M Shore and Ken Hunt putting up a good challenge. Mssrs Knot and Pearce brought up the rear with a half pound each. Ken Did enough to keep himself in the lead. With one match remaining there are 4 mathematical contenders, but with a 5 point advantage Ken probably can feel one hand on the trophy already. The result:

E Goswell 5lb 4oz

M Shore 3lb 9oz

K Hunt 2lb 15oz

J Knott 8oz

A Pearce 8oz

Club Championship 14th October 2012

The club championship moved to Avington D and E for a bit of canal action for the first of two October contests. The first frost of the winter made the fishing difficult and seemed to put the fish down somewhat. In a patchy result and with a small field weights were low. There were two new faces to the series with Tony Franklin making second place, and Nigel Beazman with the only dry net. Adrian Ager missed the second match in a row, selflessly working on the Willows lake algae problem, allowing Dave Smith to build a good lead in the series. The full results were:

Roger Durnford 3-9-0

Tony Franklin 1-15-0

Brian Cripps 1-9-0
